The original concept and purpose for this collection was as a bundle of songs targeted at game developers for use as background in horror games. As such, they are a bit different from my normal dark ambient songs. There isn't as much modulation or movement in the tracks, as that would draw too much attention away from whatever was happening in the foreground. Likewise, they don't build to a frightening, impactful crescendo since that doesn't really fit their purpose. They aren't intended to be listened to on their own, but rather to establish an emotional tone (mostly of unease) while not stealing the scene from other game elements. Something was always intended to be happening on top of the sounds that you hear. This isn't to say that they are unfinished or that you won't enjoy them... merely that your imagination may have to provide some context. Let the sounds take you on a journey. A love of horror games (or horror ANYTHING, really) will help. Playing them at a lower volume rather than blasting them into your ears/room may help as well.

Can I offer any ideas as to what KIND of journey you should undertake? The decision is, of course, yours, but my mindset in creating these tracks was that they are soundscapes of a variety of technological/supernatural horrors, where man has gone too far and not only (literally) engineered his own downfall, but has invited some sort of divine (or infernal) retribution for doing so. Hope that helps.

The working title of this album was "Unsettling Atmospheres"
